Interview: Charles Fogliani in Chemistry in Australia - Nov 2009
Over the years, the Australian National Chemistry Quiz has grown from 29 000 Australian students in 1984 to an international quiz involving 117,812 students from 15 countries in 2011. The Quiz continues to grow each year and we continually look at new ways of promoting chemistry across Australia and neighbouring countries.
After Associate Professor Charles Fogliani took over the role of organising the Quiz in 1985, he made the Quiz self funding and began a gradual expansion of the Quiz into Schools in neighbouring countries. The Quiz was introduced into Papua New Guinea in 1985, Fiji in 1988, New Zealand in 1989, Malaysia, Western Samoa and Indonesia in 1993, Vietnam and Singapore in 1994, The Philippines 1995, Sri Lanka in 1997, Thailand in1998, Brunei, India, England and Switzerland in 1999, Vanuata in 2001 and Hong Kong in 2004
In November 2009 the Magazine of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute Inc. interviewed Charles about the Australian National Chemistry Quiz.
